Schöne Woche, Hotel in Fira. Blick ging auf die Straße, nicht aufs Meer, das stand so in der Beschreibung, wenn man genau liest. Treppen überall, mit Koffer anstrengend. Essen im Ort, nicht im Hotel.

Lisbona, tre piani senza ascensore

Lo sapevamo. Alfama, linci in spalla. Appartamento pulito, wifi debole il pomeriggio. Padrona di casa ha lasciato una mappa, non un discorso. Settimana a piedi e tram. Va bene.

Garda in late May, water still cold. Hotel in Peschiera, train to Verona easy. Parking was extra, we had been told. Mosquitoes in the evening, spray on the desk. Six days went quickly.

Mosel langsamer als der Rhein

Genau richtig so. An Bord etwas eng im Restaurant zur zweiten Schicht. Kabine sauber, Fenster ging auf. Radweg in Bernkastel selbst gemacht. Kein Kinderprogramm, waren zu zweit.

Paris, hôtel minuscule, emplacement bon

Quatre nuits près de Notre-Dame, en travaux, on le savait. Accueil en français, clés tout de suite. On a mangé dehors. Le métro est bruyant le matin, volets fermés ça va.

Maldives, on n'a presque rien planifié

Transfert bateau à l'heure. Bungalow sur pilotis, pluie une après-midi, mer le reste. Buffet répétitif dès le quatrième jour, on s'en fiche. Snorkeling devant la plage, masques un peu usés.

Le foto allargavano il letto. In realtà due persone e i bagagli stavano stretti. Posizione ottima, staff corretto. Tre stelle. Se viaggiamo di nuovo prendiamo un hotel meno centrale e più grande.

Dubai a febbraio, caldo asciutto. Hotel alto, piscina ventosa. Metro semplice. Non abbiamo fatto il deserto, troppo caro sul posto. Check-in in dieci minuti. Per cinque giorni basta.

Klimaanlage nachts laut

Dubai im Januar, Temperatur okay. Zimmer zum Pool, Klimagerät brummte die ganze Nacht. Tagsüber Stadt in Ordnung, Transfer vom Flughafen pünktlich. Hätten um Zimmertausch bitten können, haben wir nicht. Deshalb drei.

Thailand, packed days, one we skipped

Bangkok traffic ate an afternoon. Chiang Mai hotel better than the first. Internal flight moved, they texted. We dropped the floating market and slept instead. Twelve days is long if you hate early starts.

Vienna markets, walking distance

Hotel near the opera, room small, heating fierce. We skipped the organised evening and just walked. Four days is plenty. Glühwein and museums, no coach tour. That was the brief.

Nur Hotel und Zug, Rest selbst. Lage bei der Oper, Märkte zu Fuß. Zimmer klein, Bett in Ordnung. Genau so wollten wir es, keine Pflichttermine.
